13th May 2013 The Presidents of NUI Maynooth and Athlone Institute of Technology have announced the formation of a new strategic partnership between their institutions. The partnership will facilitate collaboration in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; student access and progression; research, commercialisation and entrepreneurship; and internationalisation.

7th May 2013 Jake Carroll, NUI Maynooth Soccer Scholar currently playing for St Patrick’s Athletic, has signed for Huddersfield Town. The sports scholar, who is undertaking a Business Degree in Venture Management at NUI Maynooth, has made over 50 appearances for Pat’s during his scholarship. He signs for Huddersfield after having two separate spells on trial with the Championship side.

Hurley clinched the men's event after winning the first hole of a sudden death play-off against Craig Howie from the University of Stirling.

The greatest success was by Donagh Hatton, Thomas Whelan, and Nik Skripko who came first in Ireland and 38th in the world in this year’s IEEEXtreme 24 Hour Programming Competition.

22 March 2013 On March 21st the European Space Agency (ESA) revealed the latest revolutionary images of the early Universe observed with ‘Planck’. Researchers at Maynooth have helped to build the Planck satellite, a flagship space mission for ESA which has compiled the most detailed maps ever of leftover radiation from the Big Bang – called the cosmic microwave background (CMB).
